The teacher, with the help of the students (and hopefully parent volunteers) makes "comets" out of ammonia, Karo syrup, dry ice, dirt and water. Students enjoy participating in the process and watching the "comet" as steam comes out throughout the day. It's fun to divide the comet into little pieces and give them to the students in Dixie cups so they can experiment with the other ingredients.
